About The Most Useful Edit

Beautiful things. Useful ideas. Better choices.

I’m Tanya, a mum of three, and someone who values tidiness and minimalism — where it’s practical.

With three children, I know that keeping a home tidy and organised is easier said than done. Real life comes with birthdays, school events, hobbies, hand-me-downs and a seemingly endless stream of things coming into the house.

Over time, I’ve become much more conscious of what we buy, why we buy it, and whether it will genuinely add value to our lives.

We all buy things that don’t quite live up to our expectations, or receive gifts that we don’t really need. An unnecessary item might seem harmless, but once it enters your home, it takes up space. Eventually, someone has to decide what to do with it, find the time and mental energy to get rid of it, and, ideally, make sure it is disposed of responsibly.

That feels like a lot of liability for something we never really needed in the first place.

This blog is my attempt to approach consumption a little differently. I’m not here to tell you to stop buying things, and I don’t believe minimalism means living with as little as possible. I believe in buying less when we can, and choosing well when we do buy.

Here, I share genuine recommendations for things that I believe can add value to everyday life — gifts that are likely to be appreciated rather than forgotten, products that earn their place in your home, and things that offer a good balance of quality, usefulness and value.

My hope is to inspire more meaningful consumption: fewer things that disappoint, fewer things that create clutter, and more things that genuinely serve us.

Because with three children and a busy life, I’ve learned that the things we choose to bring into our homes should make life better — not simply give us more to manage.
